The answer
It is recommended that an ostrich egg be placed over the sanctuary door to represent God overlooking upon his children. "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you" (Isa 49:15). The ostrich is known for her vigilance over her eggs, diligently and watchfully fixing her eyes upon them till they hatch. Nevertheless, there is still danger that those eggs might get trodden over and crushed or stolen by wild beasts. However, God is the One who keeps them safe and watches over them.Answered by His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef (opens in a new tab)
