The question

When St. John was Exiled in Patmos, what did he do there? Did he cut stones as shown in a movie?

The answer

There in no historical evidence that St. John worked as a stone cutter in Patmos. He was quite old at that time. Most likely he just lived there preaching and converting people to Christianity.
