The question

God blesses Assyria, "Assyria the work of my hands." Why did God bless Assyria when all it did in the Old Testament was to destroy and plunder kingdoms?

The answer

This blessing was to come after they have believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Originally Assyria was a chief enemy of the people of God. With the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Gentiles and the Jews would be joined together in one faith and religion, and would all be one fold under Christ their shepherd. This is how the Grace of God is meant to convert the violent enemies (like St. Paul) into modest servants of the Lord.
