The answer
It is important to have a Confession Father and to seek spiritual guidance on a regular basis. If your relationship with your current confessional father is strained, do not break off the relationship until you feel secure to have developed a strong relationship with a different spiritual father who has agreed to be your guide. Do not leave yourself to be self-guided. It is better to have a spiritual father with whom you may not agree 100%, than to attempt to guide yourself, as this will prove to be disastrous. Continue to pray that God will lead you to someone with whom you can develop a secure and honest relationship, then, ask him if he can be your Confession Father. If he agrees, then decide on times etc., but be determined to grow unto the Lord in submission to your spiritual father's guidance.Answered by His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef (opens in a new tab)
