Baptism

Faith Q&A › Metropolitan Youssef › The Sacraments › Baptism

The question

I thought St. John's baptism was for repentance; so, it does not count as the same baptism as Christ's baptism (Acts 19:5)?

The answer

Correct. St. John's baptism was for repentance only. Those who were baptized by St. John's baptism still needed to be baptized by the Christian baptism for remission of Original Sin.
