The question

Greetings, I am a member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Sweden. I have converted to Orthodoxy as an adult. My spiritual father, whom I love, and most of our Ethiopian priests in our Church and in most of Sweden (I believe) do not speak Swedish or English well. Since I cannot communicate in Amharic, what do you think that I should do? I need a confessional father.

The answer

Since you clearly already have a spiritual father with whom you have been communicating effectively, it is best to stay with him. Based on his limited English or Swedish, it was enough to help you convert. Thus, his teachings enlightened you. There are many English speaking clergy in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church here in the United States. You can consult with your clergy in Sweden as to a directory for English speaking countries. You can also find a lot of highly spiritual Oriental Orthodox literature written in English on many online sites.
