The answer
Rapists have the same opportunity to repent with deep godly sorrow as any other sinner. If this person (the rapist) has not shown any remorse, there is no reason to have any contact with him at all. If it is not possible to avoid him at family gatherings, his victim's distancing from him should be made clear. The victim, who is really a survivor, should be cautious that this rapist is not around other family members or friends with whom he may assault. If possible, she may press charges (depending on the state/country in which she lives and her circumstances), or notify her immediate family so that this criminal behavior is addressed and ceases. Regardless, it is her decision and her decision should be respected.Answered by His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef (opens in a new tab)
