Confession

Faith Q&A › Metropolitan Youssef › The Sacraments › Confession

The question

Is it true that you can confess through e-mail? For example, if a priest or bishop you were comfortable with lived far away, could you e-mail them your "sins."

The answer

Confession is one of the seven sacraments of the Church and it has to be done in spirit of holiness and reverence. I wonder how can email help in this! It is better to be done in person with the priest, preferably inside the church. On the other hand, you may seek guidance from a priest who lives far away through the telephone or email.
