What proof is there that the Coptic Orthodox Church has existed since the first years of Christianity?

The answer

St. Mark founded the Coptic Church in Egypt. There are many books written that testify to this. A book I have enjoyed reading, "2000 Years of Coptic Christianity" written by Otto F. A. Meinardus. It surveys the twenty centuries of existence of one of the oldest churches in the world (the Coptic Church). He is a leading authority on the history of the Coptic Church; and I think you will find what he has written very interesting.
