The answer
St. Mark mentioned the hour when the people started to shout before Pilate "crucify Him" which is the beginning of the crucifixion process. But the actual crucifixion was on the sixth hour. That is why St. Jerome and St. Augustine comment that St. Mark, by saying so, has put the responsibility of the Lord's crucifixion on the Jews. For, they had crucified Him with their tongues before the Romans executed the actual crucifixion. John 19:14 also shows that the real crucifixion was around the sixth hour.Answered by His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef (opens in a new tab)
