Alcohol/Alcohol Consumption

Faith Q&A › Metropolitan Youssef › Christian Living › Alcohol/Alcohol Consumption

The question

Is it okay to occasionally drink some alcoholic beverages at home and not before people?

The answer

The Church does not openly say that drinking alcohol in itself is sinful but that the abuse of alcohol is. However the Church advocates complete abstinence from drinking because the possibility of abuse is usually very high.

Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Let us ask ourselves: are we bringing honor to the Holy Spirit through the consumption of alcohol (I Corinthians 6:12,15,19-20)?
